Placemaking

Idox has a long history of spreading good practice among decision-makers and front-line practitioners about economic, social and environmental aspects of regeneration or place improvement. We are uniquely positioned in this area as consultant, publisher, content aggregator and website developer and can take a holistic approach to meeting information needs and in designing online solutions.

We understand the need for partnership working, leadership and professional development to successfully improve the quality of places in which people live and work, and have extensive experience contributing to this improvement.

Past work includes running communities of practice on behalf of the UK Government and Scottish Centre for Regeneration to encourage those involved in placemaking to learn from one another. This involves running events, online services and producing and disseminating supporting content.

Our web-based work focuses on designing portals that enable practitioners to engage with each other online and share best practice and the development of disseminations tools that boost awareness of relevant events, organisational activities and training opportunities so the sector can continue to improve itself. Our client list includes several of the regional centres of excellence in sustainable communities and national organisations such as IDeA and CLG and its predecessor bodies.

Our content team extensively track and analyse research and policy developments in this area and we can draw on the insight to provide products and services that meet the changing needs of this dynamic sector.
