Bespoke research

Delivering accurate and high quality information is the core of our business. Our professional researchers and information scientists are able to undertake bespoke research exercises to source, collate and structure information not available elsewhere and deliver it in a manageable and useful format.

We provide contract research services to a range of clients across the public, private and voluntary sector. Our scalable and flexible team provides us with the capacity to meet tight deadlines while our rigorous internal quality control processes ensure that data is fit for purpose.

As well as researching information from scratch we can also undertake maintenance activities to help you proactively update and refresh your data both through tracking official sources and direct contact with providers to gather information not available elsewhere.

We can help you with the following activities:

  • Scoping exercises – we have won many contracts to build new web content for other organisations. When undertaking this task, we first estimate the potential scale of any research exercise through research piloting, before using a top-down approach to identify how best to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • Desk research – As well as proactively sifting through Internet sources to identify information most pertinent to our clients, we also undertake additional research to collect information not available elsewhere. We enjoy a positive relationship with several hundred information providers, which allows us to source and report on added-value 'soft' information that isn't necessarily made available in the public domain.
  • Mapping exercises – we are adept at undertaking projects to understand what research may have already taken place in an area and place it in a new context. We can help you map out your data and re-align it against new priority areas to inform future strategy and planning.
  • Directory population – when building a database for external clients, we first decide on a structure based on client need. We are able to build this data from scratch or offer a 'slice and dice' of our existing content.
  • Abstracting – in its search for content, our research team filters down the information they find to a rich selection that is relevant and meaningful.

We have delivered bespoke research exercises for East Midlands Development Agency, the European Commission and One North East.
